But also like physical fitness, it’s one thing to know what you should do, and entirely another thing to actually DO it. Sure, it would be great to be more optimistic, less reactive, and HAPPIER. But how the heck do we build the mental habits necessary to get there?

Like getting in physical shape, it takes some work, but a little every day adds up. Just 15 minutes/day for 6 weeks allows you to develop the habits you need to get your mind right.

The PQ© Program

The PQ (Positive Intelligence) Program is a 6-week “mental fitness” program that provides this support. It’s specifically designed to improve wellness, performance and relationships. Through app-guided daily practice, a support and accountability group, and me as your coach, you will form new habits and create change that lasts.

“Mental fitness” is your capacity to respond to life’s challenges with positive rather than negative mindset. The PQ program uses physical fitness as a framework for developing your mental fitness through building up your mental muscle. Like physical fitness, mental fitness is something you need to work at as part of one’s lifestyle and daily habits. You can attain a certain level of fitness, but you must keep attending to it. And, doing so contributes significantly to your well-being in all areas of your life.

What are the basic concepts?

The Positive Intelligence book, written by world-renowned coach and best-selling author Shirzad Chamine, describes 10 saboteurs and 5 sage powers that we all have within us which determine our level of “mental fitness,” or our ability to manage stressful situations in a healthy way.

Positive Intelligence is a synthesis of recent breakthroughs in neuroscience, cognitive positive psychology, and performance science and has been validated by over half a million participants in 50 countries. 

We all tend to sabotage ourselves in different ways that cause us negative emotions such as stress, disappointment, self-doubt, regret, anger, shame, guilt, or worry. This self-sabotage usually shows up when we take our natural strengths a little too far: for example, hyper-vigilance, while a protective mechanism that can be supportive, can fuel anxiety when unchecked. A hyper-rational approach to problem solving can override warmth and intuition, leading to relationship problems. Our Sage allows us to handle challenges through positive emotions such as empathy, gratitude, curiosity, creativity, self-confidence, and calm, clear-headed, laser-focused action.

The relative Strength of the positive Sage versus the negative Saboteurs is called PQ (Positive Intelligence Quotient). Mental Fitness is measured by your PQ score. PQ is an accurate predictor of how happy you are and how well you perform relative to your full potential. You can check your current level of mental fitness by taking this assessment

Over the 7 weeks, you are asked to In addition you will want to read the Positive Intelligence book, written by Shirzad Chamine (PDF included in the program), meet with your PODmates once a week for 30-minutes and attend the weekly group PQ Executive Coaching sessions with me, your PQ Coach.

Most of the application and learning happens off-line so you can make it work with your schedule.
